It doesn't matter where she flies, she looks beautiful! What a lucky girl I am to be able to enjoy the freedom, and liberty this far away from where Ol' Glory usually flies!

Hope everybody had a great 4th of July celebration and or weekend, depending on where you live. I was lucky enough to have my husband take me out to dinner. I also did a bit of cooking. I felt like crap, and still do, but will be seeing the Dr tomorrow, so should be on the mend soon enough. I made the Peanut Butter pie, and think I might try that tonight, if my taste buds are up to it! Yummy! I also made Apple crumble, Apricot crumble, butterfly cupcakes for my MIL, Black forest cake type things. . . And then collapsed. Managed to enjoy our dinner out, and went to sleep.
Had to cancel a lovely visit we were going to have with a couple friends on Sunday. And mostly stayed in bed. Had a good long nap too. Loved it!

Well, I started mixed volleyball last night, and I think I am going to love it. It is pretty intense, and will hone skills, and speed. I am looking forward to a great season! So, now I have girls on Monday night, and mixed on Wednesday or Thursday nights. That is two nights a week of guaranteed exercise. Not to mention the walking, and stuff I am doing at work, too and from work, and all the ad-hoc that is added to my days. Now if only I could motivate GM. (heavy sigh!)

Things have been busy, and I am, almost worn out, but pushing on.

This weekend is 4th of July. That is exciting to most people in the US, and to me. However, it is the dead of winter here, and so GM is taking me to dinner in celebration. I think it will be lovely. I also think I am going to make Pioneer Woman's Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie for myself, it reminds me of home, and I can eat the whole pie, because GM does not care for Peanut butter much. I think we are also going to put up the American Flag for the day, as we have the flagpole, and it is a celebration for me, and the country I come from! I am looking forward to it, and missing the celebration, bbq'ing, potato salad & devilled eggs. . . . Oh well, maybe we will celebrate it in the US next year, you never know these days!

Daddy's Day & Volleyball. . .

Happy Late Father's Day to all the Daddies out there. I am kind of lucky with that. I call my daddy three times a year to wish him Happy Father's Day. Sunday my time, Sunday his time, and then again, Sunday in September, when Father's day is celebrated in Australia. I also call him several times throughout the week I feel very lucky to be in touch with my dad so much.
Love you now & Always Daddy - Munch. . . .lol

So, lots of little updates I guess. . . .
Had volleyball finals. Luckily, we made it to the finals. . . . Then lost. Oh well, it was great fun, the team showed up over 20 minutes late, without matching tops, and it was kind of weird, because we were following all the rules, and they weren't, but they did outplay us, so that is fine. We will be better & ready for next season which starts next week. Also, I am joining a mixed volleyball team, with my current team members, and the umpire that usually trains with us on Friday nights. Looking forward to that. Evidently we will see how slow we are compares to the mixed teams, but that will train us to do better, and get faster. I am very excited. . . :)

Solar

Okay, we did it. I got something I have always wanted for my birthday this year. We have committed to installing solar panels for electricity onto our house. I have always wanted to go solar, we installed a solar hot water system last year, and it is really good. Now we are adding the electricity.

Something really cool about it, is we can feed power back into the grid if we do not use it immediately. Then in June or July, the power companies will actually start paying people for the electricity they put back into the grid, or at least offsetting the current bill. This is all really great for a few reasons: Less carbon foot printing, so it's better for the earth. With power likely to double in price over the next little while, it will take the ouch out of it a little. I love the idea! Estimations are: we will save $208.96 off our annual energy bill. We will save 1.6 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each year; which is the equivalent to removing 2 cars from the road or planting 80 trees. I like the idea more and more. . .

We lucked out, and got a great deal, and with the government contributions right now, it will pay for itself in under 1 year I think it was. Fantastic!

GM's Birthday Weekend!

Been kind of quiet lately, I have been really busy, and had lots going on, along with angst about Mother's Day. But, I am trying to come out the positive end of that now.

I have a new employer, which is kind of cool. I am still working in the same office, at the same desk for the same man, doing the same job, but the company that pays my remuneration is different. It was a little stressful getting it all done, but is all sorted now. Works for me!
GM got a year older on Saturday, and partly mid life crisis, partly ours was slowly falling apart, he got a new car. I will take pics, when I get a chance. It is really pretty, and way too fancy for me, but GM is once again in love with a vehicle. . . :) We took delivery of the vehicle on Saturday, and also went out for a big night on the town to see Wayne Brady Live. He is hilarious! He does "Don't Forget The Lyrics" and used to be in "Whose Line is it Anyway" w/Drew Carey. Absolutely fantastic! We caught the train into Melbourne, took the tram up to my work, as I had forgotten my cross stitch, and goodness knows i cannot live without it. . .lol Then we trekked back closer to The Arts Centre- Hamer Hall, where we were due to be. On the way, we stopped for dinner. GM chose Burger King/ Hungry Jacks for his birthday dinner. Then we took a leisurely stroll to where we needed to be. The show was hilarious. I love Improvisational comedy anyway, but this was great! Obviously there was no research on his audience, which actually worked rather well for this. Not knowing what a panel beater, Cootamundra and The Rialto were, made it even more funny. Loved it! Got home around 12:30am or so, and went to sleep after 1:20am. There was also a walk of Zombies on, when we went into town, not to mention the usual weekend night young people stuff. I am in the city everyday, for work-GM is not. That made for even more entertainment. . . lol
Made a roast dinner & White Chocolate Raspberry muffins for GM as a continuation of his birthday on Sunday. Muffins instead of birthday cake. He seems to like them alot. We went and saw his mom for Mother's day, that was really weird, but it went okay.
Guess we will see what the rest of the week has to offer!

I finally started this little guy on the 11 April 2009.

I think he is absolutely gorgeous. I changed a couple colors, to suit what I had available to me. And have since changed another color, but will put another pic in here, maybe before I post this tomorrow. . . I did not even think about the fact that tomorrow is ANZAC day, when I started him. But, it is quite appropriate. I would love to do a US Navy one in honor of my dad too.

Trees!

GM is one of the most thoughtful men ever- most of the time. Last night- well actually on Good Friday, he out did himself. We just got to pick up his good deed yesterday. I love taking pics as you may have guessed, and I especially love taking pics of trees. Well, I took this picI have been in love with these trees since the first time I saw them.
(My dad may or may not know, but he is the reason I have been so fond of trees all my life, so I am happy to 'hunt' them with my camera anytime I can. Thanks Dad!)
I try to take pics of these trees every year. I took this one in March 2009. There is something about them, that involves/intertwines life & death. And also with the ominous sky behind it, I could not resist. I just love these trees.
Anyway, back to the story. . . Last night, I met GM at a store in our home town, and picked up a 12*16 inch copy of the pic above. I was taken aback, and thrilled. i still am. We went directly to get a frame, and it is hanging on our wall. I do not know where it will hang for good yet, but I just love it! Kind of funny, 'cause we both got each other photos, without knowing what the other was doing. . . How bizarre.
So he has a few brownie points, and I love him more each day! Okay, getting soppy.
I have volleyball practice tonight, Yeah! I got my hair done yesterday, very happy about that. Just below my shoulders & striped, who would have thought. . .lol

Volleyball-
Had practice on Friday night. That went really well, it was great to re-learn how to volley again, take advantage of the three hits available before it has to go over the net. And have seven people on a side, gives you a big challenge when the team on game night consists of four.

Had a game on Monday night. Only three available to play, and my office chair and I had- had a disagreement in the morning. I was feeling a bit sore & sorry, and went home for a heat bag, cause I hurt that much. We played really well actually, we still lost, but played well. Had a great time even if I hurt.

Have practice again Friday, am looking forward to that too!

Going to get my hair done in a few hours, and meeting my future employer tomorrow. Once I am free to, I can talk more about that. . .lol My employment has been interesting for years. . . :)

The Weekend is Over. . .

Had a pretty busy weekend, can't say that I accomplished all that much, but know it was pretty busy. Saturday was a lot of running around in the morning, and a couple of phone calls in the after noon. Of course the shortest of these phone calls was 45 minutes, so it took a chunk of time. I think the longest phone call was near 2 hours. Loved it, but lost time. . .

My laptop power cord died, am unsure how expensive (I think about $100.00- let me pull that out of my. . . hat) it will be to get a new one. . . . But am checking into that. We got a beautiful front door installed two years ago, and because it was not installed properly, it has let wind in non stop since 2007. I am very frustrated about it, the man came back a couple times to fix it, and it still lets so much wind in, you could fly a kite. I called this morning, and he is coming out to look at the door. I do not know exactly what he will do, but I will be happy with a new door, that is not bowed, and does not allow kite flying. Went and exchanged my favorite 2 pairs of shoes, that split in the sole, because of manufacturer defect. Am wearing the new ones, and got a pair of boots too in exchange. Thank you very much. :) Yesterday I got to spend a very little bit of the morning with GM- not happy about that, but he was able to accomplish something that was important to him, so I have to get over it. I did a bit of cooking, as per the photos, and a bit of laundry and cleaning. So, not a bad weekend, just too short.
I finally used my cupcake stand. I got it for $10.00 at a local grocery store. I had to wait almost 12 months to get it, and at that price, but am very happy with it.
We have people over for a 4 o'clock cuppa almost every Sunday, so I thought I would make something yummy. . . Vanilla Cupcakes with a Chocolate Cream Frosting, Raspberry & White Chocolate Muffins, & Raspberry Filled Croissants(store bought). And the muffins & frosting were from scratch. . . :)
I ate one muffin, and am trying to pawn the rest off. . .lol

On Friday night, when GM went to Radio Club, I got a surprise ready for him. . . hehe.
He gave me a pic of my dog Widget and him framed, and it has hung on our wall for ages! I went and got a pic of him & Ralphy in the same size photo, framed it, and have hung it above the one with Widget. He saw it on Saturday morning, and was stunned by it. I am so glad he liked it. It is one of the best pics of them! I also have another surprise coming, but will have to wait two weeks for it. . . . I also got a gorgeous pic of him printed in a 5*7 and framed it for his mom for Mother's Day. Great gift giving for under $10.00 lol.

Volleyball- Update!

Couldn't make volleyball last week, being a girl is not all it's chalked up to be sometimes. But last night was great! We went in, I got to play with two of my lovely nieces, and a young lady that is friends w/ one of my nieces. I know I played hard, and we were able to play pretty well, plenty of volley, and fun! The referee helped us practice just before the game, and using some of his pointers made our game better! It was very good, very fun, exhausting, and I loved it! I came home all hot and sweaty, got to snuggle with GM, make my lunch for the next day, and get to sleep!
Oh, and yes we won! Go US!

Older Projects

Okay, here are some projects I have done, that I found in a drawer the other day. I had forgotten about some, don't remember doing one, and want to add the finishing touches to at least one.
This would be late 1980's early 1990s. Just confirmed this is accurate with my Lil sis, as she is really good with dates.
These are GM & my wedding vows that I designed. I want to add pics to the two lower corners, and framing it would be a good idea. . .lol

My mil got me this kit for my birthday several years ago, they are gang gang cockatoos, and I think they are gorgeous!

My surname, done in Australiana. Love it! I will turn the pic the right way at some point. . .lol

A gorgeous winter scene, did it not too long after I moved to Australia.

Roses- this is supposed to be a pillow. I did the embroidery, liked them, and didn't put the pillow together. Must be from the 1990s.

A Tram- a beautiful design I found in an Australiana book I have.

This is embroidery I must have done it in the late 1980s also.

Gumnut Babies. So cute. It will be a bookmark when it grows up!

Precious Moments, I love this one. I bought the fabric with the pattern on it, cut it out, attached it to a piece of felt, and then embroidered the design.

A Platypus kit a girlfriend got me for my birthday a few years ago. I love wildlife!

Stunning butterfly. I found the pattern, but no idea when I stitched it. . .

This one is special. It is Precious Moments, and is the very first cross stitch I made for my mom. I framed it in construction paper, and it hung above her nightstand for ages. I found it while cleaning out after my mom passed away, and brought it home with me. I think I will frame it, and keep it hung in my house, near a pic of mom!

More Gumnut Babies. They are so cute. This was actually a pattern for rug yarn, on tapestry, but I used it for cross stitch to see what it would look like. I think it turned out okay.

I have no idea when I stitched this one either. I know that I want to finish it, and I have a beautiful idea in mind. I won't give it away just yet. But will, when I get to the finish line. :)

Outback Gum- I love this one.

I have been working on it a little at a time, as I think it had been in storage a bit before I got the kit, and the thread is bit fragile.

This is a gorgeous Tattered Teddy Wedding Announcement.

I am working on it for my Brother & SIL. I just have to complete it, so I can send their package. . . Hope they like it!
Advance Australia- He is so cute!

I put the kit together, I just have to add a needle.
I think he will be fun to do, and look so cute!

Eastern Rosellas- GM got me this kit, and it is absolutely beautiful! I will get to it eventually. It is SO Pretty!

I don't remember the official name for this one, so I call it Australiana. I gave one to my Brother & SIL for Christmas, and GM had wanted it, so I said I would make him one. Finally I am getting to it.

I will take an updated photo, as it is over 50% finished now. I will do that soon.

I also found a drawer of completed work, that needs ironed & framed. I may take pics of them and put them on here too. Some from many, many years ago!

I also have one that I found when cleaning out my mom's stuff. It is a precious moments, and it is the very first cross stitch I made. I gave it to her, framed in construction paper & all, I had to be in my teens. Well, I brought it home, and will try and take a pic of it too!

NSV(Non Scale Victory) -kind of!

Okay, who can identify with me? I need some support!
I had a very frightening experience on Wednesday 8 April 2009 about 5:45pm. I had just washed my hands, and was in the process of drying them. The towel hangs over the heater vent. I am drying my hand, and suddenly my hand is lighter than it should be, and I cannot control the number of Sh**s coming out of my mouth. I Panic! I remove the vent from the heater, and try to feel around for my wedding ring- no luck! GM is on the other side of the door, and asks if I need help. I open the door, look at him, and tell him what is going on. He proceeds to try his hand down the vent- no luck! I get the vacuum cleaner- he uses that down the vent. Can't hear it being sucked up. He puts his hand down again, and magically he recovers my wedding ring. . . My hero still!
It is now hanging around my neck, because my fingers are not as fat as they once were.

Gum Leaves- Beautiful!

In the process of collecting gum leaves that I want to make into bookmarks, a picture, or something for my li'l sis who actually asked for gum leaves, and I did not take her any on our last trip. I collected these in Bendigo, and when I laid them down after collecting them, they looked like this.
It struck me as beautiful!

I know they are just leaves, but they are fantastic!

So no matter what they end up as, they were beautiful in a previous life. . .

Our First Caravan Trip -Part 1

We left Friday for a weekend away in our Caravan for the first time. We arrived at The Golden Nugget Caravan Park in Bendigo. It is a lovely relaxing park.

The Arch of Triumph/White Hills Botanical Gardens. Very nice! No entry fee, fantastic native animals on display, across the park was a huge playground, and paved walking trails. On the day we were there, there were kids paying, riding bikes, families barbecuing, and it was just lovely!

Cross Stitch

Our neighbors step daughter went into the ER Monday night with really bad abdominal pain. She was informed that she would be giving birth. Tuesday morning, she gave birth to a cute little boy named Ben. I am working on this for her, as a card I think. I will do a birth announcement later.

I will try to post a finished photo when I get there.

This is a gorgeous little boy, I saw the pic, and fell in love. I will be doing it in the next while too. Just wanted to post the pic, because it is so darn cute.

For those of you that do not live in Australia, the hat is a slouch hat, and is part of the military uniform from what I understand. I will keep you posted when I start this project too. I think I have at least five in front of him though. I am trying to finish a wedding sampler for my Bro & Sil. I have an Australiana that I have to make for GM, as I gave his to my Bro & Sil, so I promised I would make another. I have an elephant to do for my Sis, and I found a Father one, that has a little girl up on daddy's back, that I would like to do for my daddy. I will find the pic when I have time. Not to mention the VAUGHN in Australiana I am going to do for Bro & Sil, and a Precious moments wedding sampler for GM & I, and a Precious Moments name for my Sis, etc etc etc. I think i will be very busy for a long time.

I may never be done. . .lol But at least I will enjoy trying to get them all done.

Three weeks & one day. I had no idea it had been that long. It has been very busy here.

Volleyball on Mondays, dinner @/with in-laws here & there. Moving offices at work, and so much more. . . lol.

Anyway, not much time today either. Happy April Fools day everyone! It has been good here so far. I did however hear that in the city (Melbourne) today, someone had cling wrapped several cars in a parking lot. Sounded kind of entertaining! On the not so funny side, GM hit something on the way to work, and is very worried about the car, and what he hit. I am just happy he is not hurt. I feel for the animal he hit though. Don't want to know, cause it will be sad.

GM & Ralphy & I are all set to go away for the weekend, in the caravan for the first time. I am so excited, it will be absolutely fantastic! We will be able to go for walks, and sit and do nothing for long periods of time. I hope it will be as relaxing as I am envisioning. I will take pics I am sure!

Okay, have a dentist appt tonight, and a Dr appt Friday morning, before we head off to Bendigo.

Tuesday Already!

What a weekend! Had a good one, but too short, and felt like crap the whole time.
The trip to and from Echuca on Saturday was a little too eventful. First of all we had reserved seats. I thought that meant you actually got a reserved seat, but that did not work out. The conductor ended up finding us all a place to sit. Then had a lovely time in Echuca. GM and I went down to the Murray River, and ate our lunch. Stayed for a while, had a think about where I want to scatter some of mom's ashes. That was a bit emotional, but it was lovely. Then had a slow walk, browsing as we went back to the station. I will try to add photos of the river tomorrow. The train ride home, GM almost got into an altercation w/ someone that was drinking on the train, and about to light up. That was not fun. Then we were told to move seats to our 'assigned' seats. On our way, there were police outside the train, and a handcuffed young man went for the cop, and was pushed up against the train to try and gain control of him. So there was a bit of action on the station, which held us up for at least 10 minutes, then we were told it didn't matter what seats we sat in. . . omg what a pain. But, I was exhausted and didn't feel good, so I was really ready to get home. When we did, got to watch a couple shows with GM. I Love our time together, and I love that he said my "mom would love it here", referring to the Murray River. I know she would!
Sunday I didn't want to get out of bed, I talked on the phone for ages which was lovely, then had enough time to shower and get ready to go to the bbq for GM's boss. That was a lovely 5 hours that flew by. The company was great, and they had cockatoos flying in and out of the backyard to three separate feeders. loved it! The gang is so nice, and I played with a couple gorgeous little girls, it was a lovely social time! Got home after 7:30pm, watched a show or two w/ GM & went to sleep.
Monday, I finally had time to do some laundry (three loads), sweep the slate (1/3rd of our house is slate), vacuum cobwebs, package all the meat we had gotten from the butcher so it could go in the freezer, make a cake for afternoon tea. Which worked out great, because my mil & I went to sil's house to watch an episode of CSI. I was able to take most of the cake, and not bring any of it home. Went next door for scones once we got back, and it was all good. Somewhere in there, I managed to call and wish my brother a Happy Birthday. I sang the whole song to his voicemail. Then called my dad, talked to him, my sis, my brother (birthday boy) wished them all well, then call Lori for an hour.
Okay, I now see why I am still tired, along with the only getting a few hours sleep. At 3:30am, I think it was, GM & I are asking why we are awake. I watched the clock un til after 4am, Then got up just after 5am and took my shower.What a blasted long night. Oh well, I am hoping for sleep tonight- cross my fingers & hope.
Have a sil & her husband over for dinner tomorrow night, a Dr's appointment on Thursday, and dinner at M & D's. I am so hoping Friday is quiet. Oh yeah, may have volleyball practice that night. Had volleyball last night, didn't do too bad, but would like to practice a little more. And maybe work out the coordination in the team. We will see how it goes.
Blah Blah Blah- I think lack of sleep makes me babble too! lol

Boy, this week has been busy & fast! Glad it is a three day weekend though- Thank you for Australia's Labour Day! Let's see, this weekend will consist of. . . . . .
Saturday- Train ride to Echuca. The Train leaves Sunbury @ 9:52am, and gets into Echuca around lunch time. I will make lunches tonight, so we will have a lovely picnic lunch next to the Murray River. The Murray River is where All the Rivers Run was filmed, and where we will eventually scatter some of my mom's ashes. So, in essence this is a field inspection trip, and an excuse to relax I think. We will get a few hours up there, then will be on the 4:10pm train back home. I think it gets in just before 7pm. It will be a long, but forcibly relaxing day. lol I have a cross stitch to work on, a book to read, and a puzzle book, if the 5 other people going with GM & I is not enough entertainment. . . Just kidding- kind of.
Sunday- SLEEP IN! This is very high on my priority list, as I definitely have not been getting enough sleep lately. After a few days, without enough sleep, I do not function very well. I am hoping to morph into a very happy go lucky had lots of sleep person this day. :) Then we have a bbq to go to, that will be lovely, as the people are from GM's work, and they are all pretty darn good people! That is early afternoon. And if we don't stay until the weee hours of the night, I may get my husband home in time for a movie! Don't know yet, but am hoping.
Monday- Housework. I have laundry to do, make that mountains of laundry to do, rooms to clean, I am still putting the craft room back together, and the kitchen needs a scrub. Our little boy Ralphy is in dire need of a bath, and a haircut, I have forward planning cooking to do, and hopefully some craft time for an hour. . . lol GM will be going to the tip (dump), and cleaning the garage a bit with his dad. Oh yeah, and volleyball Monday night. It will be a very busy weekend, but hopefully very productive too!
I may add some more of my favorite recipes as I go. As I am trying to type a recipe a day for my family back home, might come across some nice ones to share too!

Mom's Recipe for Lattice Chicken

Lattice Chicken

2 cans cream of potato soup
2 cups milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cans fried onions
1 Tbs season salt
16 oz frozen Broccoli/ carrots/ cauliflower
5 Chicken breasts, cubed
3 cans crescent rolls

Combine soup, milk, season slat in mixing bowl. Mix well. In 13*9 baking pan, layer chicken, veggies, 1 cup cheese & 1 can onions. Pour liquid over top. Cover with foil, bake at 350*F for 45 minutes. Cut rolls into strips & place on top of casserole along with onions & cheese. Return to oven for 10 minutes more. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.

I have not looked for refrigerated crescent rolls here in Australia, but I think I have used puff pastry cut into strips.

Yummy! I have always loved this recipe!

Boy does life fly by. . . .

Had volleyball last night, loved it! I so love playing. First game of the season, and considering we were playing against an inexperienced team, we did really well. 64 -10 points I believe was the final score. The subject of a mixed team was brought up too. I think that would be SO much fun! I asked Geoff, and he was not that keen, but I am hoping I can change his mind. How much fun would it be to play sport with my husband! I would enjoy it way too much I think! Will keep you posted on that.

I have also been typing up a few recipes for my dad & sister. I may start sending them to my brother & his wife. Not sure yet. They may have their own recipes they like. . . I have found a few of my mom's recipes and am trying to get them on the computer, so I don't lose them.

Has anybody had Lattice chicken, it is easy, & fabulous! I may post that on here tomorrow. . . I love it, and used to be able to eat WAY too much of it. It is pretty healthy & yummy!

Kind of excited, GM and I are in the process of buying our In-Laws Caravan. It is a 1992 Windsor Statesman, and it is beautiful, and exactly what we have wanted. And having a Caravan, we can grab Ralphy, and run away for the weekend if we want to, which is awesome!

So, we are looking at going away for a weekend in April, I cannot wait. We will not fully own the Caravan, but are lucky enough to be able to use it before it is paid off!

I have also booked GM , Ralphy & myself into a Bed & Breakfast on a dairy farm for our birthdays in May. I will give you details on that later, it sounds like a lovely place though!

Monday Again!

Well, have had a hugely busy weekend!

The carpet got laid last week, and it is beautiful. Funny enough, it is made in the USA. . . lol GM got the craft room painted, and once it was sufficiently dry, GM & I started moving stuff in last night. It is such a beautiful room w/ new carpet and paint. We moved back into our bedroom on Thursday night, which was really nice, I love our bed! Here are some pics from the destruction. . . I mean renovation of our house over the last little while.

Happy Birthday Rainbow! Hope you have/had a great day!!

Volleyball was good on Monday. I am not as sore as I thought I would be. Didn't win, and felt what negative energy can do to a team, but had a good time anyway!

As we are continuing our slumber party in the living room, I am sleeping like crap. And because I am getting home so late, and not eating till late, I am coughing throughout the night. It feels like heartburn, but is not. Bummer. Oh well, I will make the most of it, and look forward to sleeping in my own bed on Friday night if at all possible! Tonight I get a little time with GM, before I go to sleep, so I may fall asleep in his arms, whether he likes it or not. . .lol

Work is going well, my boss is pretty darn cool! We don't tell him though. :) There is no tension at work now, which is amazing, because it was tense for so long. I am enjoying it.

GM has a Dr appointment tonight re: his breathing. I think he is suffering from asthma more, now that our house is dusty from the carpet, and the bushfire smoke all around outside. We will get him taken care of though. My poor little niece in the states is on the nebulizer 5 times a day right now. She is only four months- poor baby. Hope she feels better soon. I think that kinda sounds like what little Drew was going through? ?

Tomorrow (Thursday) night is dinner out with the court (the court/cul De sac we live in) friends. It will be nice to catch up, and wish Shazz a Happy Birthday! Friday GM has radio club, and there was talk of Mexican with the girls, we will see if I am up to it. Especially if my waterbed is calling!

I guess it's all pretty normal stuff here. I have a Dr appointment next week- about girl stuff. That will be interesting. At least I know I am still a girl. . . lol

Tonight is volleyball, I am a bit excited, and looking forward to is. I wonder how sore I will be tomorrow- lol.
Had a busy weekend. Friday night's "Body Shop" party was a ripper! Enjoyed myself immensely, and outlasted the usual party animals. . .lol. Saturday morning, got up a little late, luckily no hangover, and got started on boxing stuff up, and getting everything moved out of the three main bedrooms, including my craft room. OMG there is sooo much stuff. But, The great GM & I were able to get everything out by Sunday afternoon. Then I took a break for a cuppa tea, and he started "playing"- ripping the carpet up. It is the original carpet from the late 1980's, and has sooo much dust I was not able to stay with it for too ling. But GM is having a ball ripping it all up. Tonight before I get home, he will have taken up all the foam underlay, and swept the dust up & out I hope.
We had a slumber party in the living room last night, I slept on the couch, and he slept on a mattress next to the couch, with Ralphy. We have a water bed, and there is no use filling it for a couple nights. The carpet is being laid on Friday, so that will be nice, and a whole lot less dusty. I am really glad GM talked me into getting new carpet. I think it will be fantastic!
I might post pics of our slumber party room, if it is not too embarrassing. . .lol

It's Friday- Yipppeee!

Went to the dr yesterday and all is well. Tonight I have a "Body Shop" party I am attending at my Sis-in-laws house. Should be fun, and I hear there are cocktails which will make Friday the 13th quite delightful!
Stayed up waaaayyyyy too late, watching the Australia Unites-Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009 telethon on tv last night, and am feeling the effects today. Tired and achy. Boy it was touching to see all the generosity,and heartfelt love from sooo many people, all over the world really. It was amazing! And they raised a fantastic amount of money to help all these people rebuild their lives.
I am going to be doing alot of packing this weekend, trying to get my craft room packed, for the new carpet that is being put in next Friday.
Wow- emotional break- I just realized that my mom passed away 28 days/4 weeks ago today. That really sucks! I miss her sooo much! What a crappy dawning while at work. How many times can your heart break? I Love You Mom!

Cold dinner on a hot day & bushfire tragedy!

Silly but true. On Saturday 7 February 2009 we had record heat- over 114*F and massive bush fires. So, for dinner, GM & I had the above for dinner. Cold meat, boiled egg, beetroot, pineapple,mushrooms and potato salad. Funny, but good for a horribly hot day.

Some of the bush fires are about an hour north from here. This is the Main Page of The Herald Sun newspaper. There is an interactive map that shows you where the fires are. It is scary, but a fact of life here. The whole thing is very emotional, and sad as can be. There have been over 170 deaths so far, and they are guesstimating there will be over 300 by the end of the fires. Outrageous!

Anyway, I hope all is well, and that life is good in your worlds!

Volleyball

Well, had a blast last night, played volleyball, and did pretty good. I was a little nervous in the lead up, and once we got there, was told it was beach volleyball in a sand pit. Okay, barefoot, and diving for the ball. This will be fun. I started practicing with my lovely niece, and remembered how much fun I used to have playing volleyball. I also figured out that it had been over 18 years since I played. It is supposed to be 4 player teams, however we had three players. And one of those players (my niece) could only use one hand, which gave us 5 hands out of a usual 8 handed team. We played against a team of 4, and did okay. I think the score ended up as 39(us) vs 51(them). So, not too bad in the scheme of things. And I had such a ball. I was exhausted when I got home though, I cannot remember when I last played a sport. So I'm on again for next Monday, and then start the new season the week after that. And now that I know, I not be wearing a low cut tank top, as sand gets EVERYWHERE. I think I will be fine in a t-shirt and shorts. . .lol.
Not too much else to report, just a little tired, and hoping to catch up on some sleep soon. Oh, but I did finish a couple of birth announcement cross stitches for my gorgeous niece & nephew. I will try to post a pic later. I have also started on the Strawberry Fairy cross stitch that spells out Sadie. I will take a pic when I get that done too.

Well, today is Friday, and I am going to get through it. . .lol

Happy Early Birthday Lori- It is the 6th here! :) Hope you have a wonderful one- miss you!

I am still very tired, but I get home about 7pm tonight, and think I could be asleep by 7:05 if I tried. :)

Life is moving right along. I have volleyball observation Monday, a Dr's appt Thursday, a "Body Shop" party to go to next Friday. Doesn't sound like much, but it eats up a bit of time, when you work over 40 hours a week & commute over 10 hours a week. . .lol Anyway, at least I am able to do these things.

Tomorrow is supposed to be more than stinking hot- more like Africa hot as it was referred to in my childhood. I will be locked in the air conditioning I think. I may even sleep all day. Goodness knows I need it. I may even go through a bit more of my mom's stuff, and box up a bit of the craft room in preparation for the new carpet.

Reality Bites!

Exhaustion is setting in. Went to lunch with a lovely lady I used to work with. Told her a bit about my mom, and heard about the death of hers. Was great, She is so sweet. Then last night we went to dinner for My Sis-In-Laws 50th birthday last night. It was really lovely, except for Me thinking about how lucky everyone was to have their entire family there. Self centered I know, But I am still dealing with the death of my mom. It was a lovely dinner, and everybody was really lovely. And My Sis-In-Law looks FABULOUS!

Didn't get 'good' sleep last night, as it is still really hot for me here. Evidently I fell asleep while sitting up according to GM. How funny!

I woke up with a lovely migraine I will just call ouch. And have been taking drugs, but nothing is touching it. I think I need down time. . .

I have committed to joining a volley ball team. I will go and watch this coming Monday, and might start the following Monday. Nervous, imagining how much wiggling I can do on a court. But also kind of excited. I used to love playing volleyball. It is so fun, and will give me some exercise and a social outlet too! Of course my niece is the captain, so I will probably be the oldest girl there. . .lol Does not matter, it will be a good experience for me, if nothing else.

I have doctor's appointments, and various stuff happening over the next three weeks, should be interesting. And on the 20th of February, we are getting new carpet put down in part of our house.

Under the circumstances I think I am doing pretty darn good. I have been calling my sis & dad everyday to make sure they are okay. I am glad to hear that they are okay. My little sis not so much as my dad. But, she will be okay. And most exciting, my brother and his family, my dad, and my little sis are talking about coming out here for Christmas. I am so excited by that, and don't want to get my hopes up just in case. But man it would be cool!

My Mom

Got a call on Friday 16 January 2009 (Saturday 17 January 2009 in Australia) from my little sister. She said that mom had been taken to the hospital, and before the paramedics got there, she was blue, there was no pulse, and she was not breathing. I felt absolutely helpless. My Mom had passed away, and I was over 7 thousand miles away from my family. GM got home, I told him- we were on a plane the next day.

This was one of the hardest experiences I think I have or will ever deal with. My mom has always been one of my best friends, and a pain in the ass. But I love her, and miss her terribly. I am very lucky that I could drop everything and go back home for a couple weeks to help out. I do know that. I am very thankful for the support of my friends, family, and work also.

I am sure I will write more about it when I can, but right now, I think I am still raw. We got home Sunday morning, back to work on Monday morning, and lack of sleep, emotional exhaustion, and the rest are all catching up with me.

Just Another Day!

Okay, survived the heat, and am now in alright temperatures. lol And yes, sometimes I do wish I was back in cold weather Washington. Luckily all is going well. Dinner from the hot night turned out to be cold ham slices, mushrooms, sliced beets, home made potato salad and a boiled egg. It was quite yummy, and refreshing in the heat.
I think tonight will be Salmon for me, GM can have sausages and home made potato salad & veggies.
Things are going alright at the moment. GM is feeling sick again. Think it is a virus like he had before we went away on holidays, same symptoms. Not impressed. Hopefully will get him to bed early tonight, so he can feel better soon.
Had dinner at the in-laws last night, that was nice, and played with Ralphy a bit.
Normal life stuff I guess. Hope all is well in your worlds!

Heat Wave!

I admit it, I do not like the heat! It was very warm overnight(80*F), and it always make me feel yucky. Yesterday it got over 90*F & today the high was up there too! Thank goodness I am alive to experience it, but I will be glad when it cools down a little.
Okay, evidently it has cooled off a little outside(80*F). Yeah!
I was only able to have my orange juice for breakfast, as I had that nauseous feeling form the heat all morning. Now for lunch, (now that it is almost 4pm. hehehe) I am having cold fruit I sliced up last night. Strawberries, banana, green grapes, and a nectarine. YUMMY! Hopefully I can eat a bit of it, without feeling too yucky. Boy the heat affects me funny.
For dinner, I think we are having cold meat, a boiled egg, potato salad and some more fruit. Very good for me I guess. And an early night would be good too.
And because of the heat, there will probably be no walk tonight, but we will see.

Christmas Table Runner

Okay, I started this table runner well before I went to the US on Holidays.

I waited till we got home to actually sew the whole thing together, But I think it looks good now.
The squares I had cut, and lined up before we went on Holidays, and used these pics to remember the sequence.
I think it turned out pretty ok. And I am feeling better about my quilting ability.
I stitched the center part Here before we left, and finished it off in the states.

I have started on another Christmas one, I am doing the stitching as I get time. I hope I get better as I go.

Okay, so back to reality right? ? ?

I left for the US unemployed, and unsure of any job prospects. While I was away, I got an email from my former boss, who wanted me back on temporary assignment. So, when we got home, and hour after we walked in the front door, I got a call from the company, and made an appointment for 8:15am the following day.

Got there on time, and spent the next 8 hours doing paperwork, and a medical exam. Got home, celebrated New Year's. saw the fireworks on tv, and at 12:15am on 1/1/2009. I went to bed. . .lol On 2 January 2009 I started work at 8:30am. Granted it is a temporary, but I am a lucky girl. So, I am sitting at the same desk, doing the same job, for the same boss, just for a different company. . . lol

I have decided even though this is a temporary assignment, and I am happy with it, I do want to look for something closer to home. We will see if that pans out. I certainly hope so.

A Million Miles

A Million Miles. That is what it feels like I have done, since I last blogged. Our holiday was very nice, had a few rough patches, but turned out okay. Not great, but okay. Was really unsure, leaving when my sister was about to have surgery, my friend's husband was in the hospital, and I left with an uneasy feeling.
Thanksgiving was lovely, had a good time spending with my family, learning to play Rock Band, and Guitar Hero. Had a blast. Got to make a fool of myself, but had fun.
Also for the first time, I looked around the room, and saw the two kids I raised, and became very emotional, as my parents were not in the room. I loved seeing my brother and his family, and my sister all grown up! It was a great feeling.
Also, got to have a second Thanksgiving, with Lori and her family on the Saturday following. It was great fun. I totally enjoyed spending time with her and her family. I am too old to be going to bed after midnight every night, but loved it none the less.
My li'l sis and I got our tattoos prettied up, again matching, I love having a reminder of her with me all the time.

GM got to speak at Lori's Cub Scout Meeting, he seemed to really enjoy it. And the boys did too. That was nice.

We got to decorate the Christmas tree with my family, and that used to be a big chore for our family, but after a couple hiccups, it all went well. Had family portraits taken, GM got his haircut in the snow for the first, and probably last time ever. He seemed to enjoy it, afterwards. . .lol Here we usually cut his hair on the back deck in the sunshine. :)

We got sick for a few days, and on the tail end of that, we got snowed in for a week. And I mean snowed in. It was soo beautiful outside I could not believe it . I was very pleased to have the snow, and a white Christmas, as I do not know when I will get to be back for one again. It was GM's first white Christmas, and I think he is over snow now. Boy was that fun. . .lol

All in all, it was wonderful.

Then we get towards the end of the trip, and it gets a little more hairy. Christmas morning we woke up, and there was lots of snow. We had to get to my folks house, and the car we were using was not going to make it. Luckily Jeff was nice enough to take us, and Lori was nice enough to give up her husband for a little while. Thank you!

Got to my mom's, and had a nice Christmas. Stayed the night with my folks, and the next morning we were going back to Lori's. Lori called me in the morning, to say that Jeff was on his way to Harrison Hospital. That was not good news. Very scary in fact. GM & I met her at the hospital, we got there before she did, as some of the roads were still packed with ice & snow.

Heya! have been laying low for the last little while, but have enjoyed it. I cannot believe it is 10 days till we get on a plane! So glad I am now getting excited about the whole thing!

Okay about the table runner. I think it's cool, but I am pretty easily entertained. Here are some pics. I will take more soon.

I am not sure I will give it away, because I am fond of it, and will make more. It's not quite finished, but will be soon. Now that I have figured out all my mistakes. . . lol Let me know what you think.

Friday Night had an early dinner with GM (Fish & Chip Shop- I had a potato cake, and a few chips/fries- very, very naughty). But, I was too full for much else. Of course, all I had to eat was a yogurt, 1/4 of a watermelon, and a few almonds. Some times of the month, I just can't eat much. Must be okay though, I am not fatigued, I even talked GM into going with me & Ralphy for a walk after dinner. I do like doing that. Time dedicated just to us! And Ralphy loves it, he was a little slower by the time we came home though.

I cannot believe it is 13 Days till Seattle! I am starting to look forward to it. I have not had the time to stop and think about it. I have been trying to get everything at work sorted, as I will be unemployed, and am trying to get set up with an agency for when I get back from Holidays. Just too much on my mind. . .lol

I know it will all come together, and what is meant to happen, will happen.

I'm babbling. must be time to take a break. . .

Ralphy's Birthday & More!

Okay, it's been a while. I have been busy, and enjoying life away from work I think. . .lol. So Friday, we went to Vaughan Springs. I had looked it up online, and was way happy to be going. Take Ralphy on a picnic, and what a lovely birthday present for him. We get there, and there are signs posted NO DOGS ALLOWED! all over the place. Damn Damn Damn! GM being his wonderful self, suggested we backtrack, and go to

We got there,and I got out, and looked for signs, that said no dogs. Could not find a one. Thank goodness. We were able to sit, relax, enjoy our lunch, and watch Ralphy be a goof, along with taking a nice little walk. Here are some pics of the gardens.

By the way, this table runner was an idea I was gonna try and make one for some special folks, for Christmas, but will not have time before we get there to complete them. So, this one may end up being just for me & GM.

Anyway, I am exhausted, no one did my work, while I was away from work, so I am making up for my two days off by cramming it all into today and tomorrow. I will not miss that. Oh well, It's not all bad.

Busy & Fun

Hiya! Been kind of quiet on my end. Just getting through the day to day stuff at the moment. I have 16 more work days, until I am unemployed. I have an appointment with a Temporary staffing agency in a couple weeks. Hopefully they will be able to get me into work, shortly after I get home in January. Had a Dr appt yesterday, and have an RDO (rostered day off) tomorrow.

Also, tomorrow 31 October 2008 is Ralph's Birthday. Ralph will be two. He is such a cute little guy. And GM loves him to bits too. I do not know how GM is going to deal w/ leaving him here, when we go on our trip. In celebration of his birthday, and our day off, we are going to Vaughn Springs as described in a previous blog. On Saturday, we are going to The Victoria Market, and then to a bbq at a friends house. Sunday will hopefully be quiet. Monday I have another RDO- hopefully I can get more stuff organised for our trip. 24 days till we touchdown in Seattle. And Tuesday is a Public Holiday for Melbourne Cup Day. What a lovely five day weekend I have ahead of me. Oh, and I think on Tuesday we are having a bbq at our house with the neighbours. So, all in all a great time is coming.
Oh, tonight I am going to get some prescriptions filled, and then meet GM & Ralph to go for a walk around a place called The Nook. It is a beautiful place, next to a vineyard, a waterhole, and a nice long walking track. Then we will get fish & chips for dinner, and go home. I think it will be great!

The Fruitcake!

Okay, Here is the Fruitcake I made. A pic of the Recipe, and the book is above. I think it turned out okay, but my mother in law must have liked it, because she has gotten all of the stuff to make this recipe too.

I think it is pretty yummy. Lots of Brandy mind you, but very nice! There is a bit of work involved in it, but it is so worth it! I altered the recipe a bit, because I used a bag of dates I had, instead of the raisins. But it is very nice! Too bad I can't take some to the USA with me.

Vaughn Springs & Fruitcake!

Okay, I was able to find the pics of my last Vaughn Springs experience.
Here goes:

I am Really not up myself, GM just had the camera most of the time. lol It is a beautiful place, and I am looking forward to going there again. Yeah!

We got our suitcases out of the attic over the weekend, and have decided which ones we are taking, as this is our last big trip for a long while, we are going to borrow another case, rather than buy a new one. I do hope the dollar recovers a little before we head overseas, but I do not really see that happening. So, it will be a tight, but GREAT holiday.

I made my first Christmas Fruitcake last night. I hope it turns out well. I will check it out when I get home today. I took it out of the oven and put it on the counter just before I went to sleep last night. I will try to take a photo too, if it turns out okay. I will try to get a recipe & post it, just so you can see all that goes into making it. They are LOVELY to eat. hehehe Evidently you can store them for up to a year. WOW. But I think mine will only last a few months. . lol

Monday Again! Had a good weekend, and watched The World According to Garp yesterday with GM. How funny, haven't seen that movie in ages. Also saw Elizabeth with Cate Blanchett on Friday night- Was a really good movie.
Nothing too exciting going on. Just going along as per normal I guess. I have 24 more working days left, till I am unemployed. And have sent my name and details to a few Temp agencies for when we get back. I do hope I can get something pretty easily when we get back from holidays. I would hate to be out of work for too long.
Had most of last week off, and tried to spend that time on me. Loved it! I like getting to do what I want when I want. Got to talk to my sis, and that is always a bonus. Talked to my mom a bit. Bought a few things to take overseas with us. Watched some shows, got the craft room cleaned up a little. And made biscotti last night.
Let's see, tomorrow night we have Michelle & Daniel coming over for dinner, and to watch the Ice Hockey. Then on Thursday night, we(Milner clan) are all going to go out for Chinese as our last 'get together' before everyone starts leaving town for the holidays or just before. I think it will be nice. And I always like Chinese food, and the left overs you get the next day!
In-Laws, Sis-in-law & Hubby & other Sis-in-law & Niece all go out of town on 31 October (Halloween).
GM & I were going to go out of town too, but just took the day off, to go on a picnic with Ralphy instead. We are going to a place called Vaughn Springs. GM took me there several years ago, and we walked and played on the slide, and had a great time. I think Ralphy will like it too. I cannot wait. If I can find the pics from last time, I will post them.

Here we are again!

Okay, it is Monday. Had a very busy weekend, and am not feeling the best as it is. Nothing dreadful, just stress I think. With any luck, the rest of the day will float by nicely.

Friday I had a Dr appointment, so did my sis-in-law. We went together, and then came back to the city together. Then went to dinner with our husbands in Sunbury. It was kinda cute. We ended up having lunch at the train station, before we went out to our Dr's. Then Saturday, I was at work by 8am, and worked until 1:30pm. Went home, and hung out with GM for a while, until we did some running around. I think we ate dinner at 9pm that night. Then Sunday, we went to The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Theatrical Production). I thought it was fantastic. Then we went to dinner. Turned out to be a lovely day with just a hiccup or two.

We played Wii in there somewhere too. I guess there is not too much going on at the moment, which is not bad!

I think I have a hole in my heart, just like I did when Tommy was born, because I wanted to be there. But I am glad all has turned out okay, and from what I hear, mom & baby are doing fine. I am so thankful!

Okay, we went on the train trip, and it was great! We started at Sunbury (bottom of the map ) and drove up to Seymour(1/3 up from the bottom of the map). Then caught the train to Tocumwal(top right on the map), which was over the state border into New South Wales. Enjoyed it very much! Here are some pics.

Quickie!

Okay, the train trip was good. Not that I wanted to admit it mind you. But, it was great fun. I had a a book, and ipod, and cross stitch, because I thought I would be that bored. Not at all. I did not take any of them out of my bag at all. Didn't look to them, or think of it. I will put pics in a post tomorrow I think. Had a great time. We left way too early in the morning, and got to Tocumwal about 11:30 am. We meandered to the local market, then went and had our lunch on the river. It was beautiful! Caught the train back @ 2:50pm. Getting back into Seymour @ 6:10pm. Had dinner at McDonald's- I remember now, why I do not like fast food like that. Got home about 8:30pm, and I was ready for bed immediately.
Today was a pretty quiet day, did a bit of work around the house, and GM worked outside. I talked to my two best friends today, one on the computer, and one on the phone. Loved it!
Also, day light savings started this morning, but my little time doesn't match. Add an hour to Melbourne time. Hopefully it will fix up soon!
I made a marble bundt cake today, with a light glaze tonight. I am going to slice it, and put it in our lunches this week. I also made a lamb roast, and bbq chicken (thank you Lori) in the oven. And because I need protein, I cooked the bbq chicken in an oven bag, with a can of baked beans, bbq sauce, and an onion. It tastes pretty good too!

Friday again!

Well, not too much going on. Just a quiet morning at work. Life is good, health is good, GM is good, and Ralphy is good. All around, not much to complain about. . . lol.

I am hoping to night will be an early night, and may get GM to watch a movie with me. Otherwise, I need to tackle the craft room, and get it under control, as it is storage for all the crap we are taking back to the states on our holiday as well as my craft room. And of course I would love to Wii, if I get some time.

Tomorrow is a train trip with GM. I am not completely sure about it, as I take trains every work day. But, I know GM will love it, and it is a day out. I think we are leaving at 7:30 in the morning, and will get home about 8pm. Ralphy will be pissed. I have a good book to read, and an ipod to listen to. Of course that is only if GM, his sis, brother in law, and the scenery are not entertainment enough. :) I think I am making lunches, and it should be nice!

Sunday stay at home, and try to get our house into some kind of order. With all the late nights, and things going on, we need to dedicate some quality time to our house, and fixing up the garden!

Rainbow- I am going to get a couple tattoos while in the states, I just don't know exactly what one of them is yet. My Tattoo advisor (Lil Sis) has some drawings to show me. . .lol. The other tattoo will be an enhancement of our butterflies. I think we are going to get another butterfly, and some wispy smoke or something. . . I'll keep you posted!

Oh, and I am reading the Stephenie Meyer Vampire books, and they are great! That is what I will read on the train tomorrow. And GM and I got Travis, Tyler & in the future Tommy a fantastic book! It is called "The Dangerous Book For Boys," it sounds scarier than it is. Check the website out, as it is just a fantastic book, everything from building a go kart, to how to play Aussie rules football, to how to play poker, to how to make paper airplanes, to the history of Australia, and the Queen. It really is fantastic! There is one for girls too- with different stuff in it.

Go Hawks!

Wednesday morning- I just finished Tuesday's post. lol.

This week has been kinda crazy, but I think they all are lately. My mom is out of the hospital and doing better. She is unhappy with me, but that is her choice. I will be honest with her whether she likes it or not! She is doing better though, so that is what's important!

GM and I had Monday off, and just spent time together, we went to a tattoo place, because his team the Hawks won the Grand Final (Superbowl) on Saturday. That is what I forgot to put in about Saturday, we were on pins and needles to see if his team would win the game, and couldn't watch it live, but recorded it, and watched it after they had indeed won. Anyway, GM wants a tattoo of his teams symbol. I think he is going to wait till we get to The Pacific Northwest, before he gets it though!

Health is fine, everything is pretty darn good, just a bit tired, from too many late nights!

Tuesday and I'm Behind again!

Okay, it's Tuesday and I am slack! Had a good but busy weekend, and had yesterday off with the great GM. Had our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday Aussie time & Monday USA time. So, took the day off to celebrate!
I left work early on Friday, cause I had to go see the eye Dr. No change to the current prescription, so life is good! Then we went to dinner and I had Lamb's Fry (liver to those of you in America)- Loved it, and needed the iron badly!
Saturday morning, GM worked, I slept in, then got started on the laundry. I think I ended up doing five loads, including towels, blankets, and clothing. . .lol Cleaned the house a bit, did a little bit of Wii, and had a great time.
Sunday we got up early, as we had a bit of running around to do, so we did it, and then were tired, and couldn't be stuffed doing anything else. We were booked int o go to dinner for our anniversary, but ended up cancelling, and having dinner at home, which was better for both of us.

Wii- It really is fun!

Happy Monday!
Well, I am a little sore, but darn happy. GM did not even read my last blog, and we went out and got a Wii on Saturday. We were unable to set it up until after 9:30pm on Saturday night, which got us to bed after 1:30am Sunday morning. . .lol We have been doing the Wii fit exercises, and it does work your core. I love it. granted I have only had time to do around 40-45 minutes total on it, but it has been great fun. And I LOVE that GM and I can watch each other and spur each other on, or actually play a game against each other at the same time. It is very motivational. We also got Mario Kart, but I do not know when we will get to play it yet, as the week days are very busy. I am hoping it will continue to be fabulous! I screwed up on the BMI measuring, and cannot be bothered fixing it, because I have to delete stuff, but after two weeks, I can adjust it. And the Wii Fit is a scale, so it tells you your weight, BMI, and helps you set goals, and then reach your goals. I am way impressed! It also gives you little rewards to help you keep motivated. If you get the chance, by all means give it a go! Lori I think you would love doing this, as much as Turbo jam, it also has a boxing component!
So, tonight, I am going home to make dinner, and lunches for tomorrow, and then try and get in 30 minutes on the Wii. That should put me in bed by 9:30, hopefully before 10pm. Sounds good in theory, but I think I have laundry to do too. . .lol
The weekend was good, Saturday we went out and got the Wii, and then got home,a nd went to the in-laws to help set up beauty bark all where they wanted it in the garden and they gave us lunch. Then home for a quick nap, and back up, showered and back to the in-laws for dinner. I think we got home about 9pm.
Thus being able to start setting up the Wii at 9:30pm. I think I am going to try and make it a goal to get on it at least 30 minutes every night after work. I think I can pull that off. Then maybe I will not need to go to the gym so much, and can cancel that membership. I am not positive yet, but am thinking about it.
Man I lead a boring life. . .lol.
But, I like it that way, and you must too, if you are still reading this. :)

Wii- Is On My Mind!

Heya! I've been out of action. At a course for the last three days, and pretty busy all around. I completed my MYOB course, which is a bit about accounting. That was really good, and great to learn new stuff! Hopefully it will assist me in future employment- you never know.

Went to dinner at the sister in-laws last night, and had a blast. Dinner was lovely (homemade hamburgers) and then we played Wii sport & Wii Fit. I think it was at least two hours worth. Went through tennis, bowling, golf, soccer headbutting, yoga stuff, and a bunch of balance stuff. It was great fun! I want one. . . We will see. Don't really thing I can justify it at the moment. But man it would be fun.

I am happy that today is Friday, and cannot wait to get home. I get to start the weekend with GM & Ralphy, and that is always a good thing!

We are going to get travel insurance tomorrow, as the trip is getting closer, then we may do some price comparisons on the Wii (fingers crossed). We are also going to help the in-laws (M&D) put down some beauty bark, and some other yard work I think. Then we are having a beautiful lamb roast. But most importantly- we get to sleep in in the morning! ! !

Maybe Sunday we can sit and watch a movie together. Unless we are playing with the Wii (hehehehe). I can hope can't I?

Road Trip & Alcohol- Seperately. . .

Boy how time flies. . . It has been that busy, that I have not had time to stop.
Yesterday was good, way too busy, but good. We were up by 7am, and on the road to Shepparton by 8am. I managed to stay awake for the two hour drive. Then I waited in the car, cross stitching while GM went into a HAMfest. After that, we went to the cannery, and stocked up on canned goods. I loved it. Then it was off to have lunch. The lake where we usually go to have lunch, was dry, because of the drought, which was pretty sad. We ended up travelling towards home, and pulling off at a rest stop and having our lunch there. It took me 30 minutes to eat a chicken roll. I don't do much bread these days. . . lol. I slept for the last 45 minutes of the two hour trip, then when we got home, GM and I took a nap. He dropped off quickly, and it took me a little while to go to sleep. Then we had a couple of our lovely neighbors over for a cuppa. And then it was off to GM's sisters to visit for her birthday. I do not know if it is because I do not drink much, or because I have lost weight and cannot hold my liquor, but I was really happy by the time I got home. GM put me to bed (9pm) and I woke up this morning for work at about 6:30am with a little help. No Hangover- Yeah! GM was a great carer!
Saturday was busy too. . . GM worked, I did some stuff around the house, GM got home, then we went to the grocery store, got home, worked around the house, put groceries away, had company for dinner, then we all watched a movie, and our guests left after midnight. . . I think I am too old for late nights. lol
Anyway, hoping to get some good sleep tonight. Hoping GM gets some good sleep too. I think he needs it. Starting to think about our anniversary, as it is close to our sixth. I have told GM he needs to take me to dinner. I think we will have fun no matter what we do, and as long as we are together, it is all good anyway.

I know it is only 8am, but have already had a neat experience this morning, but must start by telling you a bit about yesterday. (Sometime I am long winded. . .lol) I got off work, walked down to catch a tram, walked to the train, once off the train, I walked to the gym. Got my gear on- realizing that a tank top I got while in Washington last year, was a bit bigger than it used to be on me. Got on the treadmill, and kept thinking about the weight I have lost, and the weight I have yet to lose. Same thing as I continued my workout. Then I met GM outside the gym, he had been taking Ralph on a walk, before they picked me up. When I got in the car, started talking about my thoughts, and decided I wanted to lift the amount of weight I have lost. You know, like on some of the 'reality' weight loss shows. So, GM being the man he is, racked his brain, and this morning when he went to start the car, he got the dog food out of the trunk. The dog food weighed just over 14 kg that is over 30 lbs ( I have lost 20kg that is over 44 lbs). He came in, and put it in my arms. OMG I could not believe I had been carrying around that much weight for who knows how long, it felt great to hand it back to him, but it still brought a tear to my eye. I love that I do not have that weight to carry around anymore! (long winded, but I liked it)
Clothes that fit snugly across my belly, now have plenty of room to move, and my football player shoulders do not seem as wide. Needing a belt, rather than just wearing a belt. It is all good! My watch flops around my wrist, and we are looking at getting a couple links out of my Australian Sunshine ID bracelet. I feel proud of myself today.
I go to see the podiatrist as a follow up on my feet tonight, then it is off to dinner @GM's M&D's house. That will be lovely I am sure, they are lovely people. I lucked out in the in-law department. Tomorrow I go to see a Nurse re: my weight loss, so hopefully that will be a good thing. I hope I have lost some since I went last. It is a slow process, but I am confident with it all. Oh, and still good news on the PCOS front- all clear for almost a week- Yyyiiipppeee!

Work is over for another day. Yeah! Quite glad about that. Thought I'd tell you about a lovely recipe I made the other night, I changed it a little, but it was quite good. It is called Quick & Easy Chicken, Broccoli & Brown Rice The recipe is from The Campbell's website. Which is really cool, because the soup we have on stock, can help you make a meal some in 20 minutes. Worth checking out!
Thank you Lori for the great conversation earlier today, it put a smile on my face for the afternoon. I have also told GM about the dissecting frog setup, and he loved it.
On the train home tonight, I saw a flock of Galahs, it was absolutely beautiful, and all I could think is 'I would love to show someone from home this beauty'. So I was really happy for a minute, then really sad for a minute. There is so much here I would love to share with people from home, it is wild. Maybe someday. I can live in hope.

Father's Day in Australia

Let's see, it is Monday, yesterday was Father's Day here in Australia. So, I called my dad this morning, which is his Sunday, and talked to him for a few minutes. It is really good, because Father's day is on a different day here, I have an excuse to get my dad to talk to me on the phone at least twice a year now. :)
Yesterday we went and saw GM's dad to wish him a Happy Father's Day. Visited for a short time, and then came home, and went next door for scones. . . . Yummy! I had more than one. And loved it. I will be eating less at the end of this week. My Choice.
Actually went to the mall on Saturday, only went to one or two stores, and couldn't find anything I wanted. However, went to Target today, to get GM a movie he wanted, and found a new book, I hear is really good. Don't know if you like the vampire books, but it is by Stephanie Meyer, called Twilight. I will let you know how it is. Oh, and currently I am reading Hannibal, with Clarice Starling. It is the book after Silence of The Lambs. It is really good so far.
Also working on a cross stitch, that may take me forever. But, it is beautiful. It is called Outback Gum. You can see it here. I hope to get it done in the next couple months or so. We will see.
Very happy to hear that Rainbow is an Auntie! I have been emailing back and forth, to find out, that baby Sadie has dropped a bit, and may not make it till October.
Lori had some sad news, it is very odd, the joy of life, and the sorrow of death happen in such close proximity so much, so often. Thank you God for reminding us we are human. And as we know, it is all part of the circle of life. We are lucky to experience it, every emotion from joy to sorrow. Love you Lori!
Okay, starting to get philosophical will jump off the box, and get some sleep.
PS- the feet still hurt a bit in the heel, and am hoping I can get some help with that on Thursday. Also going to dinner at G & R's which will be nice, and have the brother and sister in law over for dinner on Saturday. busy, busy, busy. . . Then Sunday we are going to Shepparton. GM will go to a HAM fest, and I will go to the cannery to stock up on stuff like soup, and diced tomatoes, etc. I cannot wait. Anyway, I will really go for now! See Ya ~Melissa

Happy Friday Everybody!

Well, it has been a busy day, and I am ready for down time. GM and I are going out to dinner with a couple friends, and are going to spend the next two days together. Yeah! GM works every other weekend, so the days we have together are cherished.
I went to the podiatrist yesterday, and he fixed up my orthotic a little bit, it hurts ALOT less now. and my feet are getting used to it. Very happy about that!
I stayed home from work yesterday, as I was on standby to see my podiatrist, and by the time I was done, it would have been almost time for me to come home from work, when I got there. Got to take a nap, did some laundry, bought some groceries, and played with Ralph. And then later in the day, our next door neighbor came over, and we had a cuppa. That was nice, and she is lovely. GM got a ride home, and then it was off o the Doc for him. He has flu like symptoms. . . Nothing the Doc can fix. So, I told him he must be quiet this weekend. Hopefully he will heed my words, but he is a boy, so we will see. . . lol
Today is Legacy day here. It was really neat, coming up the escalators at Parliament Train Station this morning, and seeing a bunch of uniformed military men rattling cans, and selling little pins to raise money for the cause. Legacy assists widows, children, disabled, etc. of servicemen. I think it is neat.
I am thinking of making single serve pineapple upside down cakes this weekend, and then I can freeze them. Hopefully they will be good, pulled from the freezer. . . Won't know till I try. I am looking at ways to not overindulge, and if I can have single portions then, there will be no overindulging in our house, without consciously making the decision. I have been thinking about that for other things too. I have been making muffins the last few weekends, and have purposefully made them mini muffins. And the ones that I do not take to work, I put in the freezer. . . It seems to be working.
I overindulged today, but it was on good stuff. I had almost a whole punnet of strawberries after lunch. They were so yum! Sweet and juicy and fabulous! At least it was a good choice for overindulgence. Man I could go another right now. Oh well, I will be good, and save room for dinner tonight.

It's Wednesday!

Back again. . . Well, it has been a rough few days, but am getting through it.

My feet are in agony, because of 9my new orthotics, so I am on a waiting list to see the podiatrist tomorrow.

The draining effect has slowed a bit, so feeling better about that. Not time to party, but looking forward to it. :)

Took pics last night. I do not see a huge difference, but can see a bit.
The one on the bottom is the latest, and the one on the top is the oldest.

Okay, maybe I am delusional and just want to see something. But, my cheeks look a li'l slimmer. . . To me.

Got a shock when I got on the scales, didn't think I had done anything, and had lost 4 kilograms (that is 8.8 pounds approx.) Woooo Hoooo! Hope we continue that way. Originally I was going to the gym after work today, but not with my feet hurting. I do not think I would survive. Maybe I can go tomorrow after I see the podiatrist. Fingers crossed.

On Saturday, it will be 7 years since I met GM in person. Wow, it does not feel that long. And I still remember being told not to go and fall in love. What a goose, I couldn't help myself.

Anyway, things are good, GM seems to have a cold or is getting the flu or something. I am worried about him, but am sure he will be okay. He does not make a good patient though. Not many men do. . . lol Life is good for us, and we are very blessed to have each other, and our Ralphy. Along with all of the other bonuses we have been given.

Drained- Literally

Morning! Well, I just had a weekend, and am exhausted at 11 am Monday morning.
I was not able to do much at all yesterday, I even took a 3 hour nap yesterday, but let me start at the beginning. . . kind of. . .
Okay, Friday afternoon, I got the Implanon removed from my arm. Thank you local anaesthetic! I have been off my hormone pills for over a week, and off the Implant for just under two days. Meanwhile, on Saturday, I got blood tests for Anemia, as I am very fatigued, feel like a stuck pig. Saturday, we went out after GM got home from work, and did some running around. Went to work, and brought my crap home (pics of my family, funny pens, and any other personal belongings), went to Bunnings (like Lowe's) and got GM a level for his projects. then came home. Yesterday, I woke up after 9, didn't get out of bed until lunch, and then was back in bed for a nap at 1pm. I slept until 4 pm, and got up to eat dinner, and do lunches. Then it was back to bed. Couldn't go to sleep until after 10pm, as my mind never shuts off on a Sunday. Then up and moving again this morning!
My feet are feeling better, and luckily I did not wear my orthotics over the weekend, and have not been on my feet too much today. I think I over did it when I got the insets though, and am trying to make up for that now. Crossed fingers, they will stay okay.
Thank you GM for taking care of me yesterday, I really appreciate it, and love you bunches!
And thank you Lori, or should I thank the boys? ? ? I get to dissect a frog with a lovely young man, when we are back in Kitsap County! HOW COOL! And GM was very happy that he & Jeff & Tommy get to play hooky!
If I am not feeling better in the next few days, I will have to go see the Dr. I may need an iron injection. You can only eat soo much liver.

Walking Wounded

Heya! Had a busy few days, and today is looking that way too! Work is always work, and yesterday I had no time to blog.

I got off work early, and went to the podiatrist to get my orthotics. When your feet have been molded flat to the floor for over 30 years, and you get these devices that want to give you arches, your feet rebel! Then I don't have a car, so I walked to where I wanted to go, didn't I. I walked to Big W, then to the gym, then to my in-laws house. Overall, not a huge trip, but when your feet don't feel good. . . I am surprised I did not crawl to work today, my feet are that uncomfortable. I have to give it a few days, and the muscles in my feet should not be screaming so loudly. I HOPE!

We had dinner with the in-laws, that was lovely as usual, but got home, made lunches and had no time, before it was bedtime. Just snuggling into bed, and GM starts playing with Ralph. Ralph then jumps on the bed, right on top of my foot. I wanted to cry. . . Luckily I got over it, but I could have been confused with a pheasant last night, I was that fowl. . .lol Bad joke- I liked it.

Today I get off the train in Sunbury, and walk up to the Dr to get my Implanon removed. That will be interesting I think. I just hope I get something to numb it, as I am afraid it will hurt bunches getting this capsule thing taken out of my arm. We will see.

Then I cannot wait to get home, and I think GM is going to cook dinner, or we will have fish & chips. I don't really care, I just want to relax, and not be reminded of my feet right now!

Tomorrow GM goes to work, and I get a little sleep in. Then it's the usual Laundry, cleaning up, trying to make phone calls across the world, I hope to get into my craft room, and clean it up a bit, then we are coming into the city to pick up some of my crap from work. . . Yippeee!

I have added a time gadget, so hopefully that will help. I hope everyone is well, and look forward to reading your blogs soon!

Happy Tuesday To Me!

Let's see, today was pretty busy, the usual work stuff, and got home about 6:45pm.
I did a fair bit of walking at lunchtime, and was proud of myself for that. The only problem is, after yesterdays events at the gym, and not having my orthotics, my feet hurt like he!!. Come on Thursday!
Tomorrow is going to be a little obnoxious, but I will live. I have a mandatory 3 hour meeting with my division, which includes lunch. Yes, they are providing lunch, but I think that is the bribe to get us all together for the time we will be. I am sure it will all be okay, but I have alot to do darnit.
Thursday is picking up my orthotics, and Friday is getting the Implanon out of my arm. Saturday is going to be busy, GM will be working till noon. Then, it will be off to my work, as I will be bringing some of my personal belongings home, then we are going to come home and relax this may include watching a show, or taking a nap. That will be a tough choice. . lol

Day Off- No Rest. . .

What a day today! I had today off, as I went to the dentist, and the gyno. Thought I would have a nice relaxing day, get a few things done around the house, and maybe watch some TV. WRONG!
Took GM to work, came home and started a load of laundry, fed Ralph, made a grocery list, separated the spaghetti sauce I made last night in meals, and then it was off to the dentist. I was a good girl, after the dentist I went to the gym. Did 17 minutes on the treadmill, 12 minutes on the cross trainer, and 17 minutes on the stationary bike. Go Me! :) Went to the grocery store, then I go home, put the groceries away, hang the laundry out, fold the last load, put away mine then go through my container cupboard, and put a roast in the crock pot for dinner. Also, I took out the garbage, put the recycling out, took a shower, and all I was trying to do today, was to make a batch of muffins. . .
Next it was off to pick GM up from work, and off to the gyno. That was interesting, but not for major discussion here at the moment. Came home via the in-laws, then started getting the veggies ready for dinner, got GM's mince meat and onion cooked, and finally got to start on the muffins I had been trying to get to all day! Had the lovely neighbors over for a cuppa, and when they left, dinner was ready, and the muffins were ready too! It is 9:15 on Monday night, and I am finally sitting on my behind, and ready to go to bed :)

Had a great day today. Woke up, made breakfast, and then went out to my bossses for a lunch and a visit. Had a lovely drive down to Clifton Springs, and a great visit! Now we have gotten home, and are watching an episode of House- we are party animals! Then the neighbors are coming over for a cuppa and then I may go to bed.
Tomorrow the plan is to see my mother in law for her Birthday(75), calling my sister in law(my brother's wife), and possibly call Lori if there is time, then stop and see a neighbor up the road, and a sleep in!
Just for fun, I may make muffins too.
Happy to read that everyone is doing well, and I will catch up later.

It's Finally Friday! It is a good day!
I'm a happy girl! I did not want to get out of bed, but hey who does first thing in the morning. Got a call on the train telling me it is snowing in Gisborne- I knew it was cold, but goodness! It is kind of cool, for the first time in quite a few years, I am feeling the cold. I think that has something to do with my metabolism and losing weight. Yeah Me! So, I am wearing wool sweaters; and not needing to take them off during the day, because I am sweating like a pig- like I used to.
Also, I have a few NSV's- Non Scale Victories I have encountered lately. My ID bracelet kind of hangs on my wrist now, where it used to fit good. I can now tighten my belt to the fourth hole, rather than the second. When I wear jeans, I have room between my thighs and the jeans, so I feel like i am wearing bell bottoms (It is amazing if you have never experienced this before). I have a few more, but feel like I am bragging. So I will stop.
Tonight the man I love is going to make me dinner, and then we are going to watch shows, and I expect we will have both fallen asleep by about 10-10:30. What a party crew we are!
Saturday, we are going to my bosses house, for a visit and then Sunday, hopefully we will get to stay home all day, and relax. Maybe I will make muffins. I made Raspberry white chocolate last time. There is a trick. I make mini muffins, keep a couple to put in lunches, and then bring the rest to work, so I can get everyone else to eat them. . .Better on their thighs than on mine. .lol
My MYOB course is paid for, so I am a little excited about that. I just hope my brain is able to learn, it's been a little while since I was a student.
I go see the Gyno for the first time on Monday, I sure hope he can help with my PCOS, and other girly stuff. Boy will I be a bit happier then!

Let's see, not much going on today. Made it through the dentist & the Podiatrist yesterday- Yeah! I pick up my orthotics next week.
Today consists of work, and it has been full on for a few months now. Which makes the day fly by. Which is always good.
I also am going to take a training course on MYOB, which is an accounting software, that is widely used here.

Pride

So, it does not matter how old you get, it is always good to be humbled. . .

Especially after our conversation about pride Lori.

I went to the podiatrist today. I have to get orthotics, because I have hurt my feet so much, that they are swollen and painful all the time. So, in a week, I will have inserts for my shoes, and hopefully my feet will not hurt so much anymore. So, pride in not needing anything like that, and thinking I am fine. . . HA

I am also going to the dentist this afternoon, that will be fun I am sure. . .

The Beginning

Okay, I have been a member since July, but have not thought of anything interesting or witty to write. Today, I guess I am going to make the leap, whether I am exciting or not. . .

I saw two blogs last night, and they made me miss home more than I have in a long while. I know the people writing the blogs are in different states, but I longed to be part of it. Unlike the beautiful weather happening in the Pacific Northwest, it is freezing cold here, and I am actually sick of wearing so many layers. This is unusual for me, as I have always been pretty okay with the cold.

Last year at this time, I started growing my veggie garden, but this year I will be in the US for five weeks, so I passed this year. Kind of a bummer, but okay. I am getting excited about going back home for the holidays, and a little scared to, as I know this will be our last trip for a long while, as we will be broke, and I have to find a job when I get back.

I guess that's all I have to say at the moment, so be back later!
